Summary

The spectacular finale to the New York Times bestselling trilogy that began with Mr。 Mercedes (winner of the Edgar Award) and Finders Keepers—In End of Watch, the diabolical “Mercedes Killer” drives his enemies to suicide, and if Bill Hodges and Holly Gibney don’t figure out a way to stop him, they’ll be victims themselves。

In Room 217 of the Lakes Region Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic, something has awakened。 Something evil。 Brady Hartsfield, perpetrator of the Mercedes Massacre, where eight people were killed and many more were badly injured, has been in the clinic for five years, in a vegetative state。 According to his doctors, anything approaching a complete recovery is unlikely。 But behind the drool and stare, Brady is awake, and in possession of deadly new powers that allow him to wreak unimaginable havoc without ever leaving his hospital room。

Retired police detective Bill Hodges, the unlikely hero of Mr。 Mercedes and Finders Keepers, now runs an investigation agency with his partner, Holly Gibney—the woman who delivered the blow to Hartsfield’s head that put him on the brain injury ward。 When Bill and Holly are called to a suicide scene with ties to the Mercedes Massacre, they find themselves pulled into their most dangerous case yet, one that will put their lives at risk, as well as those of Bill’s heroic young friend Jerome Robinson and his teenage sister, Barbara。 Brady Hartsfield is back, and planning revenge not just on Hodges and his friends, but on an entire city。

In End of Watch, Stephen King brings the Hodges trilogy to a sublimely terrifying conclusion, combining the detective fiction of Mr。 Mercedes and Finders Keepers with the heart-pounding, supernatural suspense that has been his bestselling trademark。 The result is an unnerving look at human vulnerability and chilling suspense。 No one does it better than King。

Well, not as good as the first one but definitely better than the second one。 Having seen the show before I was shocked to find out that the book is so different! I thought I had tired of these characters, but this book found its way into my hands and I ended up enjoying it。 Pretty far-fetched conclusion, but just go with it!

This was a pretty fitting end to a very good trilogy, and I am sad to see these characters go。 I wasn't sure if I would like this one because of the more supernatural elements, but it worked。 Not sure why I ever doubt Stephen King。 This was a pretty fitting end to a very good trilogy, and I am sad to see these characters go。 I wasn't sure if I would like this one because of the more supernatural elements, but it worked。 Not sure why I ever doubt Stephen King。 。。。more

Juhu!

From the trilogy this was the weakest book for me。 I was pretty disappointed about the fact, that the story was so real from the very beginning and suddenly it became such a sci-fi。 I would also expect a little bit more action。 But of course the ending was really touching as I really loved those three characters。

I enjoy sci-fi as much as the next guy, but when I am reading the last installment of a 3-part series that has not been even close to sci-fi, and it all of a sudden becomes a sci-fi story, it’s just。。。well。。。 odd。 I mean, this was entertaining, sure, but the shift to a paranormal storyline was neither necessary nor all that well-executed。 Fun series overall though!

I wasn’t a huge fan of the new abilities that Brady had, but still a good story。

I was disappointed in this last book of the Mr。 Mercedes trilogy。 There was just too much that was unbelievable unlike the first two。 The killer Brady Hartsfield, thought to be in a harmless, near vegetative condition, causes people to commit suicide using a defunct game gadget。 By "entering" others bodies he has figured out how to accumulate and distribute these gadgets after programming them to "hypnotize" players and suggest their lives are not worth living。 Our usual heroes-Bill, Holly and J I was disappointed in this last book of the Mr。 Mercedes trilogy。 There was just too much that was unbelievable unlike the first two。 The killer Brady Hartsfield, thought to be in a harmless, near vegetative condition, causes people to commit suicide using a defunct game gadget。 By "entering" others bodies he has figured out how to accumulate and distribute these gadgets after programming them to "hypnotize" players and suggest their lives are not worth living。 Our usual heroes-Bill, Holly and Jerome-are back with a predictable ending。 Library ebook loan。 。。。more

The trilogy as a whole deserves a 5 star rating。 Good stuff。

This book was a brilliant way to wrap up the whole series。 It makes you appreciate the first two books more。 This one definitely took a more classic Stephen King approach to it than the first two, but it was brilliant。 I will miss these characters deeply。

Listening to Will Patton narrate this book is what kept me with the story。 It is haunting and a good way to finish the trilogy。 I am still a bigger fan of the second book, "Finders Keepers。" Listening to Will Patton narrate this book is what kept me with the story。 It is haunting and a good way to finish the trilogy。 I am still a bigger fan of the second book, "Finders Keepers。" 。。。more

U svakom slucaju provod zagarantovan ✅

This is the final book in the Bill Hodges trilogy。 One of the best series I have ever read, with this final installment very satisfyingly wrapping up a most intriguing storyline。 Stephen King is a master storyteller and this trilogy kept me thoroughly in its grip throughout。 I recommend it highly!

King's police procedural trilogy concludes。 The decision to immediately let the reader know exactly whodunnit (and where, when, why and how) was interesting in the first book, but ultimately served to drain just about all the drama out of the story and make the abundant coincidences native to any mystery novel all the more glaring。 King's police procedural trilogy concludes。 The decision to immediately let the reader know exactly whodunnit (and where, when, why and how) was interesting in the first book, but ultimately served to drain just about all the drama out of the story and make the abundant coincidences native to any mystery novel all the more glaring。 。。。more

A great end to a great series of books。 I’m am sad to have finished the series now, I know I will miss the characters。 It’s a tense and emotional read that displays the affection King has for his Characters。 Highly recommend this one and all the Bill Hodges Trilogy。

“ End of Watch “ by Stephen King。 I’ve finally finished the Bill Hodges detective trilogy 。 I didn’t read them straight after each other but it didn’t matter as I remembered each storyline as I read。 Excellent series, it’s a crime series with a psychic horror twist。 We have the usual elements of a King story - tragedy , evil , suspense , supernatural etc。 。 Thoroughly recommend even though I am biased as he’s my favourite author but definitely give it a go , it’s an easy read but very full plots “ End of Watch “ by Stephen King。 I’ve finally finished the Bill Hodges detective trilogy 。 I didn’t read them straight after each other but it didn’t matter as I remembered each storyline as I read。 Excellent series, it’s a crime series with a psychic horror twist。 We have the usual elements of a King story - tragedy , evil , suspense , supernatural etc。 。 Thoroughly recommend even though I am biased as he’s my favourite author but definitely give it a go , it’s an easy read but very full plots 。 I didn’t want this book to finish as it was so good and knowing it’s the last one 。 ❤️ 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Terrible。 I only read this trilogy because it was on an essential read list I’m working through。 King takes a classic crime detective series and then finishes the trilogy by turning it into a lazy work of fantasy。 Everything felt so convenient。 The detectives always guessed the right things at the right time。 There was no logical way to bring back the main Gillian of the first book so let’s just give him super powers。 Why not bring in other super hero’s or give Hodges the power of flight or X-ra Terrible。 I only read this trilogy because it was on an essential read list I’m working through。 King takes a classic crime detective series and then finishes the trilogy by turning it into a lazy work of fantasy。 Everything felt so convenient。 The detectives always guessed the right things at the right time。 There was no logical way to bring back the main Gillian of the first book so let’s just give him super powers。 Why not bring in other super hero’s or give Hodges the power of flight or X-ray vision。 。。。more

Stephen King will always be one of my favorite writers。 First, his prose and style of writing digs it’s hooks into me。 However, what really gets me are his characters。 I adore Jerome, Holly and Hodges and can’t wait to read The Outsider。
